Librarian Sleuth Revealed for National Library Week

Columbus, Ohio – Dec. 7, 2020 – Best-selling author Patricia Sargeant’s new cozy mystery series puts a spotlight on the importance of libraries. The series launches March 23, 2021—just in time for National Library Week April 4-10.

Murder by Page One, will be released in paperback, eBook and audiobook by Hallmark Publishing, the books division of Crown Media, home to Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. It’s the first book of Sargeant’s Peach Coast Library Mysteries, which she writes as Olivia Matthews. It will be available in bookstores and online.

“Without libraries, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” said Sargeant, a Columbus, Ohio, resident who relocated from Brooklyn, New York. “Libraries are critically important to the communities they serve. The support they provide goes far beyond lending books. Yet when communities are forced to reduce their budgets, libraries are seen as easy targets. But as libraries go, so do communities. I’m hoping by speaking through the librarian amateur sleuth of my Peach Coast Library Mystery series, I can help amplify the message of the importance of libraries.”

The series’ amateur sleuth is a fish-out-of-water. Librarian Marvella “Marvey” Harris is a native New Yorker who relocates to the fictitious small coastal town of Peach Coast, Georgia. In Murder by Page One, Marvey is settling into small-town Southern life when one of her new friends, independent bookstore owner Jolene Gomez, is suspected of murder. Marvey agrees to investigate the murder, but could she be facing a deadly plot twist?
